Research Interests
I am open to PhD applications across all aspects of the development of ionic liquids for sustainable and green chemistry applied to catalysis, separations, and energy applications, and in the use of neutron scattering/isotopic substitution to study disordered (liquid and glassy) materials.
Public outreach & key achievements
I represented the UK Disordered Materials Neutron Scattering user community as a member of the STFC ISIS User Committee (Dec 2009-Dec 2017) and as a member (2013-2018) and Chair (2014-2018) of the ISIS Facility Access Panel (FAP-2 Disordered Materials).
I have extensive experience as a reviewer for research proposals with the EPSRC, and internationally for the Research Foundation–Flanders (Belgium), the US DoA (Department of Agriculture, USA), the National Science Centre Poland, the Swedish Research Council, the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) Saudi Arabia, the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, H2020 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship programme (EU), and as a member of the Royal Society of Chemistry (UK) Subject Expert Grant Assessment Panel for travel and mobility funds.

Success with in collaboration with PETRONAS in Malaysia was recognised with three from the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE), an achievement that was covered in the and in dedicated and media.
Using neutron scattering to observe , an ongoing collaboration with Dr (QUB) and the ISIS Disordered Materials Group, was publicised as a by the ISIS Muon and Neutron Source as ground-breaking work that could lead to development of new metal-free catalysts.
